Trip to Canyon - The canyon consists of a formation along the banks of the Charyn River of approximately 80 kilometres (50 mi) (90 kilometres (56 mi) is also stated). The river has a total length of 393 kilometres (244 mi) .The River originates from the Tian Shan Mountains that range over the arid semi-desert to eastern Almaty. In various places, it attains a depth of 150 to 300 metres (490 to 980 ft).
Kolsai Lake, three alpine lakes nestled among the dramatic cliffs and fir forests of the Tian Shan mountain range. Six hours away from Almaty, the road leading to the lake area is bumpy but scenic, passing vast steppes and canyons. Explore the picturesque landscape of the hiking trails around the lakes, go fishing for trout, camp out, or visit a lakeside guesthouse.
